The Past
Dusk-kit was cursed at birth. Not Cursed, but sometimes she wonders if she was meant to have more white in her pelt. The pale grey of her pelt was enough to destroy her parent's mateship after all, surely there was something wrong with her. Her parents practically abandoned her, leaving Dusk-kit to fend for herself from a very young age. She didn't know what she did to deserve such a thing and it hurt her, especially when she saw how her sisters Applekit and Primrosekit were treated. Luckily her sisters stepped up to the plate and gave her the love that their parents didn't so she never was truly alone.
It wasn't until Duskpaw became a trainee did she truly understand what it meant to be a Duskwalker. She had a hard time fitting in with the other Daywalker trainees and often stayed by herself or with her sisters. The torment she faced here shaped her into the spunkish warrior she grew up to be, realizing that no one in the clan, save for her sisters, had any hope for her. So she would prove them all wrong.
Becoming a warrior was difficult for Duskchaser. Her sisters ended up meeting other people and expanding into the rest of the clan, leaving Duskwalker behind. But it was alright, she would manage on her own. And it's not like they left her alone, they were still close with her. She just realized that her sisters didn't need her as much as she needed them, and that was okay. It was fine.
Duskchaser leaned into the name given her, coming out at dusk when her pelt was actually useful. She would fight back against those that scorned her, refusing to just sit back and take it. They could call her "Duskwalker" all they wanted but that didn't mean she had to accept it. In fact, she welcomed the name, she took it as a challenge. She wanted them to see a "Duskwalker" hunt as well as she did, she wanted them to see that she was fine. She was strong and that's all that mattered.
Things changed for her when her sister became leader. Applewater always was the best out of the three of them and Duskchaser was so proud of her sister. While this did nothing to stop the barrage of torments it made her feel special, that her sister was someone so important. She also saw this as an opportunity to bring change to the clan. As an outcast she saw the cracks in how their clan worked and she wanted to fix them, and with her sister's help she could.
Another big changed happened not long after Applewater became the Daywalker leader: the sandstorm. Her parents were lost in the chaos and Duskwalker couldn't help but be sad about this. She held no love for them, at least she didn't think so. But a part of her, deep down, just wanted them to be proud of her for one in their life. She wanted to be seen on the same level as her sisters and now that would never happen. They died when she was still a "Duskwalker" in their minds and that tore her up inside.
This fuled Duskwalker even more. She felt like she had more to prove, more she had to do. She didn't want to die a nobody, she wanted to be someone, someone important. She might dislike a lot of her clanmates but Duneclan was still her clan, she wanted to prove that she was worthy of being a part of it. She just doesn't know how she's going to do that yet.
