The Essentials Name: Quartzshine Prefix Meaning: The varying colors of quartz, and his mother's love for the stone Suffix Meaning: His positive, easy-going nature Sex: Male Age: 52 Moons Sexuality: Pansexual Rank: Warrior Role: Hunter Adopt Thread: n/a The Body Base Coat Color: Black/Seal Markings: Himalayan Colorpoint with white spotting (face and paws) Eye Color: Blue Body Size and Build: Small and lean Fur Length and Texture: Soft, medium length fur Additional Physical Traits: n/a Health and Scars: Healthy, minor scarring hidden by fur Full Appearance Description: Quartzshine is perhaps the furthest feline from intimidating besides a sleeping kit - he is certainly not a large tom, even by Chasmclan standards, instead having a rather small and lean physique, coated in medium length, soft snowy fur so white it might give a Duneclan cat a heart attack. As is expected, he has large ears, relatively long whiskers, and small paws, making him adept at maneuvering in the dark and fitting into tight spots or pawing into even tinier places. While mostly white, his tail is a silvery grey color that matches tack on his face, which transitions toward a rich black the closer it extends toward his inky hued nose. However, his white even dares to break this pointed mask, alongside deep sapphire blue eyes. The Identity Positive Traits: Amiable, Considerate, Patient Neutral Traits: Quiet, Idealistic, Observant, Calm Negative Traits: Secretive, Indecisive, Leisurely Full Trait Description: Quartzshine is easiest described as a quiet-tempered soul. He is not one to talk much or be in any hurry, no matter that he will never hesitate to aid his clanmates where he can, and he is very far from violent. In fact, he is a tom that believes very highly in the ancestors and the benefit of meditating, and sees no point in approaching life with anything less than clarity and a calm mindset. It is this that can often make him seem distant and uninvolved, however this is not entirely the case. Quartzshine is surprisingly observant, as well as rather considerate and amiable. He tends to take the path of least resistance, and this includes the one that will be less likely to harm or upset others. However, he is not quite passive. He will stand firmly for what he believes and can be admittedly blunt when necessary, however he prefers to avoid this when necessary, and thus it is often difficult to tell what he is feeling or thinking, even if he is telling you at the time. His patience seems to know no bounds, fortunately, and he is not a tom that is easily ruffled. Despite this, he is indeed indecisive when the right path is not clear to him, which can lead to stalling and hesitation, or most commonly, shutting out the world and focusing his mind through meditation and his connection with the ancestors. Being somewhat difficult to decipher at times makes it easy for one to keep secrets, which aids the fact that the tom is indeed a very secretive feline, one who will keep his burdens to himself as well as the confessions and secrets of others. Loves: Gemstones, Meditating Likes: Conversation, The Caves, Hunting Dislikes: Outsiders, Leaving the Caves Hates: Thievery Fears: The ancestors forsaking Chasmclan Secrets: He let his brother get away with stealing a gemstone and replaced it with one of his own to cover it up (he hates that he did this but he would do so again) Dreams: To help others find enlightenment Strengths: Hunting, Smelling, Hearing, Flexibility Normals: Eyesight, Stealth, Defense, Climbing Weaknesses: Jumping, Swimming, Speed, Attack The Past The mother of Quartzkit and his brother Berylkit was unsurprisingly a warm and gentle soul. She was stern when necessary, of course, but this barely came to light with the kits she promptly raised to be well-mannered and respectful young toms. While they were her first litter, and admittedly her distant mate's second, she was a natural mother. She had little trouble birthing and raising them, and by the time they were old enough to be trained beneath the guidance of their father and older half-sister, they were both ready to take on the world as worthy Pupils. However, while Quartzpaw flourished as a pupil beneath his half-sister's guidance, her being rather approving of his calm nature and willing to help him toward his goal to one day become enlightened like the tales of cats passed, Berylpaw did not fair so well. His father's distance caused the young tom to seek more attention, which in time resulted in him acting out. Any quarrels to be had were never seen, but Quartzpaw was not oblivious to the tension of his brother no matter what most would have assumed. He figured it was indeed their father's distant nature, though even he worried there may be more to it than that, and he was not sure who he would trust if he was ever told two opposing sides of the story. However, he cared deeply for his brother, and he wanted to help guide him back to a lighter path. So, when Berylpaw stole one of his father's gemstones and hid it with the intent of 'finding' it later to get his father's appraisal, Quartzpaw replaced the stone with a matching one of his own for worry of what might happen to Berylpaw for not only stealing a gem, but from going against his own family. Despite his guilt, he told no one of this beyond his brother, and the secret bound the pair closer. Overtime, Quartzpaw stood in as the attention and support his brother sought, and by the time they reached the end of their training, it seemed as though everything was right with Berylpaw once more. Quartzpaw felt guilt for protecting a thief, but he knew in his heart he would do the same for his brother again if it came to it. Becoming a full hunter was exactly as anticipated - more freedom and respect, but not much change beyond that. Quartzshine was content with this, however, and with training out of the way, put more focus into hunting, and meditation. It was easy enough to spend as much time beyond his duties meditating as he could, and with time it paid off toward his true goal. Enlightenment. Even he was not sure if he believed it entirely, though there was no doubt it changed him slightly, perhaps into someone more serene, less anxious and wary. He could accept life simply as it was, and enjoy the truths of the world. |
