The Essentials Name: Miragewatcher Prefix Meaning: For his markings, though more-so due to the falsity of mirages Suffix Meaning: Due to being very alert and intuitive Sex: Male Age: 43 Moons Sexuality: Heterosexual Rank: Warrior Role: Nightwalker Adopt Thread: n/a The Body Base Coat Color: Black Markings: Classic Tabby Eye Color: Copper Body Size and Build: Average height, muscular Fur Length and Texture: Medium, thick Additional Physical Traits: Tufted ears Health and Scars: No defects, some minor scarring on his shoulder and two larger scars on his back. Full Appearance Description: Miragewatcher is not the largest of felines, though it is hard to deny that physically he is intimidating. A rather muscular tom with numerous scars and no intent to look pretty, he is definitely a rougher looking Nightwalker. For the most part his pelt is a deep black, swirled into classic tabby patterns that aim to block out much of the browner shades of his fur, beyond his face and legs where the black lessens, and his stomach where it seems to fade entirely. He is mostly quite proportional, though his ears are tufted, and his somewhat plumed tail is a little longer than average. Much like many Nightwalkers, he has longer, thicker fur than the diurnal portion of his clan, to keep him warm in the cooler desert nights. The Identity Positive Traits: Honest, Loyal, Uncomplicated, Intuitive Neutral Traits: Determined, Analytical, Independent, Alert Negative Traits: Blunt, Wary, Reclusive, Distrustful Full Trait Description: Miragewatcher is a rather straight-forward, no nonsense tom. He is not the sort to muck around and lay about idly, and he will certainly look down upon others who do that same without having at least been productive recently. His loyalty to his clan holds strong, however he is a wary and admittedly distrustful tom who honestly prefers his solitude, especially due to the judgment of his family. He is not a harsh tom, despite his tendency toward blunt honesty and how unlikely he is to sugar coat anything, though he is the sort to hold a grudge if one really crosses a line, and if he dislikes you, it is hard to believe otherwise. With an analytical mind, he does better as a fighter and strategist than someone to give emotional support, however he is surprisingly good at noticing when something is off about his clanmates, and does not tend to hesitate bringing it up if he thinks there is an issue. He will not wait around worrying about the opinion of others when he thinks something is important, and never expect him to dance around the truth. He may not be the most sociable feline, but it is rare that he will not speak his mind, even if he would not rebel against true authority or step too far out of line. Loves: Nighttime, Stars Likes: Stargazing, Solitude, Pleasant Conversation Dislikes: Being Idle, Daytime, Bad Attitudes Hates: The Desert Heat, Laziness, Cruelty Fears: Someone he loves being a cursed Secrets: He does not hate the cursed, in fact he sympathizes for them, but they do make him wary Dreams: To see the clan's harsh views on color one day soften Strengths: Attack, Hearing, Stealth, Defense Normals: Eyesight, Hunting, Smelling, Climbing Weaknesses: Swimming, Speed, Jumping, Flexibility The Past Born to a seemingly pure lineage of black furred Nightwalkers within Duneclan, there was little doubt to the color and future role of any litter of kits within the line, Miragekit's included. Even his littermates were strong, healthy, and raven black. However, what was not expected by the family was the brown that settled between the tabby stripes of Miragekit's fur. A deviance from what was expected of his pure-lineage parent, undeniably, and one that was not received well. While much of the clan cared little so long as he was absent of white and dark enough to be a Nightwalker, his family had a different perspective. They were proud to be the perfect Nightwalkers, pitch dark as the night itself, and Miragekit was a stain on an otherwise perfect lineage. Even his own littermates were just as perfectly black, yet he was not. Thus, he was simply not one of them. At least, that was how most of his family treated him. From birth, Miragekit was constantly looked down upon and ridiculed by his family. Even his name, while assumed to be for his wavy patterning assimilating the waviness of mirages, was also a masked insult to the false and betraying nature of mirages. As a kit, this deeply upset the young tom. He was still fed and cared for, but the emotional treatment damaged his friendlier nature, and he became wary of waiting on promises or placing his trust in the goodness of others. It was all he knew, stuck in the nursery, and it upset him deeply to be disliked when he did not have so much as a spot of white, and he was still well suited to blending in at night despite his variation. However, as he grew older, he found he could sympathize with the cursed that everyone treated so poorly, to think that they too did not choose how they appeared, and did not seem to recall these supposed bad deeds they once did in a former life. By the time he was an apprentice, though still wary of the cursed, he did not hate them as others did. Aside from being attacked by a bird in an instance that taught him to truly dislike daytime and much prefer the cover night gave him, Miragepaw's training beneath the various Nightwalkers within the clan went relatively smoothly. Many seemed pleased by his lack of complaint toward training or any other tasks he might be assigned and his distaste toward lazing around, and his nature became cooler and calmer as the fact that very few seemed to actually care about his deviation from a purely black coat allowed him to move past his own family's judgment. He became a dutiful, loyal and surprisingly alert, intuitive young tom who, upon passing his trial well, was named Miragewatcher for his alertness and the times he had noticed dangers or things that seem off before anyone else. He took part in training new Nightwalkers with pride and moved entirely beyond his family's judgement of him to embrace better things within his clan. The loss of their Nightwalker Leader was a shocking one, but with no body found, Miragewatcher found himself holding out hope that one day their leader would return. Until then, the clan would need to put their faith in their Daywalker Leader alone. |
