Sunshine happily trotted into camp, her tail swayed happily and she seemed to be dancing to her own little song in her head. At every warrior she passed she waved at, some ignoredher some returned the favor. Even if they didn't respond Sunshine wanted to let them know she cared. Today she was extra happy though, she gets to spend the day with her best friend Honeybee! She would help her organize herbs and talk about life together, in fact she was bringing her her favorite prey, a nice juicy owl. She finally got to the medicine cat den and squeezed inside, having trouble due to her large frame. "Honeybee! Its Sunshine I brought your favorite prey~" she meowed in a sing songy voice. Then she took a step closer, and realized how far back Honeybee was in the den, her back turned to her. "Bee?" she asked, tilting her head. "Honey bun? Is everything ok?" She dropped the rabbit, her eyes full of concern as she approached her friend. Then she heard a sniffle, she was crying! "Honey whats wrong, what happened?" she asked, sitting down next to her friend and wrapping her large tail around her. Tags: autumn

Nestled in the corner of her den, Honeybee stared awkwardly at the dirt walls. They were worn from years of use, a dark muddy brown with pebbles sticking out from every corner and dust coating the ground of the little tunnel. Roots dangled from above, appearing eerie at night but making interesting decoration during the day when Honeybee would dry herbs by hanging them from the tree. Honeybee was laying down, her back facing towards the entrance to the warm den. The sun beat down on her through the roots, making her pelt glow red and warm. Herbs were tucked away in little crevices around the den, most were in little nooks in the wall, but a few actually hung from the roots overhead, tediously drying in the warm light. It was serene and peaceful in the medicine den, with no other body than Honeybee's in there. From aboveground, the thumping of paws could be heard as they vibrated through the ground and cats busied themselves with clan duties. The little ruddy tabby still stared at the wall. She didn't realize when her eyes had gotten watery, probably during some point when she had forgotten to blink, too busy daydreaming in her own little world to focus on such small necessities. In her mind, she dreamed of better times. Times when she and her brothers, Cherry- and Limelight got along more. When they used to play as kits and get into the usual kitten trouble, her brothers always getting spoiled while Honeybee got showered in affection. Honeybee used to hang out with her old mentor a lot, and sometimes her brothers would join her. They learned little things about herbs and how they're used. How they save the lives of others and how the oasis kept everything alive. At some point, Limelight seemed to grow more and more cruel. He made awful offhanded comments towards Honeybee, making her feel insecure about herself and her actions. Sometimes she trod carefully around him because she just couldn't handle more ridicule. Her little dance to avoid one of her most beloved brothers depressed her. Other times, when she wasn't avoiding him, the little tabby would pretend the comments just didn't bother her. She wrote them off as jokes and playfully retorted with a gentle, "I love you too, big bro."Honeybee turned to the sound of paws at the entrance of the den, already smelling the delicious scent of one of her favorite meats to chew on- especially when she was stressed. A cute, sweet voice rang in her ears, and she perked up immediately. Honeybee turned around and sniffed, blinking away the pain in her eyes. She looked at Sunshine as the molly approached. The cream-tabby glowed in the light, looking like the light reflecting off of the oasis. The sight took Honeybee's breath away. "Honey, what's wrong? What happened," Sunshine inquired. The black tabby screamed internally, softening instantly at the sound of the sweet voice. "Oh Sunshine, I'm so happy you're here," the herb tender purred, nuzzling her face into Sunshine's silky fur. Honeybee dismissed the questions, looking at the prey that her friend dropped to the floor. "Is that for me, Sunny? You always spoil me," Honeybee teased, sitting up quickly. jinxy

"Oh Sunshine, I'm so happy you're here," Sunshine smiled brightly, nuzzling the molly back, glad she could get a smile out of her. "Of course Honeybunny i'm always here" she purred. She frowned again in concern. She was usually so bubbly and happy, but now she seemed dull, depressed, sad and it made her worry. Who could have made her so upset? "Is that for me, Sunny? You always spoil me,"Sunshine ears perk up and she whirled around, totally forgetting about the prey. " Oh right!" she meowed, dragging the owl closer. "I thought you needed something to eat since its sun high" she meowed, a sheepish grin plastered to her face. "Ok, so tell me what has you so down Honeybun" she asked, rubbing a paw on the smaller molly's back soothingly. It used to help her when she got upset as a kit, a trick she learned from her father. "I've almost never seen you so upset before" she said anxiously, most of her memories and times spent with the molly where jovial and fun. "Did someone step on your herbs again?! Oh I'll give them a stern talking too! Cats should be careful around your plants" she ranted. Tags: autumn,

Honeybee happily looked over her meal, already picking out the feathers with her teeth so she could bite into the flesh without getting a mouthful of the fluff. Her attention was on the owl, but she was listening to Sunshine's soothing voice. There was something about the way the cream-tabby spoke. She sounded so happy, so sing-songy. Her voice was like a crystal clear melody on a perfect day. It made Honeybee's heart melt every time. The herb tender glanced at Sunshine just in time to see the little grin on her face, right before she lifted a paw and started rubbing Honeybee's back. Honeybee responded to the backrub by relaxing, as she took a bite out of her meal. "Okay, so tell me what has you so down, Honeybun," Sunshine insisted. Honeybee swallowed, caving into her friend's anxiety. "Did someone step on your herbs again?! Oh, I'll give them a stern talking to! Cats should be careful around your plants," Honeybee smiled, "I know right! So many kits always play with my cacti and they get hurt! Duh! Of course, you're gonna hurt yourselves, cacti are sharp," the medicine cat piped in, rolling her eyes dramatically. "But, no. That's not what I'm upset about."The tabby turned her head to look over at sunshine, eyes big and round. "Limelight was being mean to me again," she whined, shaking her head. She looked back at the owl, taking another bite and starting her rant with a full mouth, "I don't understand him sometimes! Why does he always have to ruin my fun? And he always gets me where it hurts, then acts like it's no big deal! I sometimes wonder if he's ashamed to call me his sister..."Honeybee swallowed her prey hard, feeling the big bite grind down her throat. She gave the owl a relieved sigh, relaxing into the rubbing motion on her back. Already she was feeling the stress from her day dripping away. jinxy

"I know right! So many kits always play with my cacti and they get hurt! Duh! Of course, you're gonna hurt yourselves, cacti are sharp,"
Sunshine shook her head, remembering the incident clearly. "I tried to talk to those mothers but they wouldn't listen to me! I can talk to them again if thats what has so blue" she meowed, looking at her with a worried expression. "But, no. That's not what I'm upset about." Sunshine cocked her head to the side, letting the molly continue. "Limelight was being mean to me again, "I don't understand him sometimes! Why does he always have to ruin my fun? And he always gets me where it hurts, then acts like it's no big deal! I sometimes wonder if he's ashamed to call me his sister..." Sunshine ears flattened against her head and she blinked in shock. "Limey said all those things about you!? But..he's your brother!" She meowed, remembering the times when they had played together as kits, sure he could be rude but not straight up cruel to his own sister. "Well I know he's your brother but what he says is a loud of owl droppings!" she meowed, surprised at her own words. "Your an amazing cat Honeybun" she meowed, grabbing the molly's paws in her own large ones. "And...well if he isn't proud to be your brother, I'm not ashamed to call you my best friend" she meowed, resting her nose against the other mollys forehead. "So forget what he said ok? It doesn't matter, he's dumb" she said with a laugh. Tags: autumn,

Honeybee chuckled softly, as Sunshine's protective senses immediately rose at the mention of Limelight's troublesome personality. The cream-tabby assured Honeybee that Limelight's words were not to be taken to heart- because they simply weren't true. The smaller molly nodded, purring softly. "Aw, how come you always cheer me up, my sunshine," Honeybee asked with a playful nuzzle. She listened to Sunshine laugh as she chewed another mouthful of her meal. "Sunny, do you want to share some of this owl with me," the herb tender scooted a little closer to the wall of the den, patting her tail on the area next to her to invite Sunshine to sit closer, "I want to hear about your day! How was the desert? And... I want to cuddle!"jinxy

Sunshine purred loudly, sounding like a motor. "Aw, how come you always cheer me up, my sunshine" Sunshine licked the mollys head, bringing her in closer. She loved being near Honeybee, nothing made her happier than snuggling her. "Its my job honey bun" she purred. "Sunny, do you want to share some of this owl with me?" Sunshine was about to respond before her stomach rumbled loudly, answering for her. "That sounds great actually" she meowed, and ripped a chunk of meat and began to chew, some feathers stuck to the side of her face. "I want to hear about your day! How was the desert? And... I want to cuddle!" Sunshine looked back at her friend "My day?" she asked with a stuffed mouth. She swallowed, then carried on, humming as she thought. "OH oh oh! I was hunting and I saw this snake in the sand, and I was like 'you think your so smart mr snake, well you can't hide from me!' but when I got closer it started rattling at me! Its tail was whirling all around! So I got scared and ran away- oh and then I saw this owl, just like pop out of a cactus! and before it knew it I jumped on it, and well yeah know" she meowed, looking at the now dead owl. "Oh am I talking too much? Sorry" she meowed, looking anxious. She had been told she talked cats ears off and she didn't want to annoy Honeybee. Tags: autumn,

Affectionately, Honeybee purred as she licked the feathers out of the cream tabby's fur. She snorted softly as they fell away from their fur, and gently pushed them into a pile with her tail. Later she would offer them to the nursing mothers so they could dress their nests with the soft feathers. As she piled together the accessories, Sunshine began to answer her questions. Honeybee's eyes glowed as she took another bite out of the owl, already starting to feel full. Honeybee nuzzled Sunshine lovingly, wrapping her tail around the molly's, "Of course you're not talking too much," she said gently, "I'm glad that snake didn't bite you! Otherwise, you wouldn't have been here to bring me this owl."The herb tender turned to start tearing off more feathers from the giant bird, setting them in another pile. Sunshine smiled wider at her friends words. She had always worried she may talk to much, but Honey made those thoughts disappear. "Good, I don't want to talk your ears off or you'll have trouble hearing all my stories" Sunshine meowed, giving the molly a squeeze with her paw. She loved hugging and cuddling Honey, it always made her feel better no matter what. "I'm glad that snake didn't bite you! Otherwise, you wouldn't have been here to bring me this owl." Sunshine nodded, her eyes large as she took a large bite of the owl, more feathers flying everywhere. "Yeah I hate snakes, Its like 'hey where the heck are your legs! Ya know!?" Sunshine exclaimed, throwing her paws up. "I love listening to your stories, Sunny. You give the world so much life," Sunshine beamed, pulling the smaller molly closer into what seemed like the 100th bear hug. "I love telling yoy my stories HoneyBunny, and I love to see you smile, you smiling makes me smile" she purred happily. "I wish I could just sit in your den all day and tell you stories, like even stories that arn't real because its so much fun!" she said sadly. Tags: autumn,
