myrtleleaf - glenclan - leader - application Myrtleleaf had just finished a patrol, and she was glad to see that everyone was coming back with prey. It seemed like the numbers were finally bouncing back, and cats could fatten up before leafbare. It was nice to see the forest recovering, despite the nagging worry that it wouldn't fully recover before chilly weather and rain swept the forest. She stood in the middle of camp for a few moments after placing her catch into the growing freshkill pile, contemplating whether to go back out again. She always tried to spend an hour or two in camp, either talking with the elders or resting warriors, sharing tongues or a meal, playing with kits or apprentices, anything she could do to help. That way cats who wanted to ask her anything could approach her and didn't have to tramp across the territory. But she didn't know what needed to be done today. Everything was running rather smoothly. Oh! I know! The tabby turned and hopped across the stream in one bound, returning to the entrance side of camp. To her surprise, when she approached the medicine den she heard the sound of voices inside and recognized a few of them. Mintheart must be teaching some of our cats herbs. I wonder how many have gone to her already. She waited outside the den for a few moments, and then whirled around and made her way back to the freshkill pile. She picked out a squirrel, which was both large enough for her and her friend to share and it was one of the other cat's favorite foods. As she returned to the medicine den, a few of the cats that were taking the lesson padded out of it, chatting amicably. She nodded at them as she went past, and they meowed happy greetings to her as well. Nice to see they're having so much fun learning about herbs. She ducked into the den, taking a moment for her eyes to adjust. She was sure Mintheart had heard her, but maybe she didn't know it was her. She looked like she was sorting some of the few herbs she had left after the lesson. Myrtleleaf sidled over to the pale molly and dropped the squirrel down in front of her. "Fancy meeting you here." She meowed, circling around the other cat before plopping down at her side. "I brought us some lunch. And you might as well not put those away, because if you don't mind I'd love a lesson." The cat gestured towards the squirrel and then at the herbs. She looked up and met Mintheart's eyes, smiling. I hope she wasn't planning on taking a break after that lesson wrapped up. I may have just ruined her day. "If you're busy though, I understand. We all need a break sometimes, and teaching this old dog some new tricks will take some effort."
