The Past

Magpiepaw was born alongside her siblings to River- and Marigold- into Birch Family. The first few moons of her life were happy and unbothered although being the runt of her litter and having such 'lovely' white toes earned her the nickname "Tiny Toes", for her mother 'could just gobble them up'. She didn't really mind at first but it started to bother her when cats other than her parents would call her that.
She learned early in life that her mother, kindest of all mothers in Birch Family (in Magpie's opinion), originated from the Pine Family and Magpiepaw found curiosity towards the family known for kindness and wisdom opposed to the rash honesty and of her own.

When Magpiepaw and her siblings were 4 moons of age the initial disaster happened:
It was revealed that the siblings were the product of an affair their mother had with a tom of the Willow Family.
The revelation broke their family apart.
River- and Marigold- seperated and although Marigold- meant well by staying in Birch Family, Magpiepaw felt hostility grow towards her mother and by extension herself and her siblings over the betrayal. Magpiepaw would lie if she said she wasn't glad her mother left to rejoin Pine Family once she and her siblings became apprentices.

The first moons of their apprenticeship Magpiepaw passively watched her siblings cut off their mother, feeling awkward and conflicted towards her mother herself.
She had always loved her mother best but yearned for her father's (River-) approval more. If she was being honest, she feels rather lonely without allowing her mother to fuss over her as she had done before that tom from Willow Family had ruined everything.
However, Magpiepaw is not honest about that.
Or rather... not open about that.
And she isn't really kind to neither Marigold- nor that Willow Family tom nor River- for that matter either.

She hates everything about it, especially her own indecision.
