Emberpaw - Glenclan - Apprentice - Birch Family - Application Everything about today went wrong. Unlike the yesterday when she had a fun climbing with Cricketpaw. This day one of the worst she never had in a longtime. First she failed her hunting lesson and her mentor was extremely disappointed. Next she got scolded by another warrior for pick a fight with a smart-mouthed tom. Then she had came across Marigold- who had the gall to so much as look in her direction. Emberpaw couldn't get out of camp any faster. She didn't feel like herself right now. Weak. She hated this feeling with all her might. It's why so many of her friends abandoned her. It was actions of a ill-minded she-cat that ruined her life. Glenclan was her home no matter what but now it so...constricted. Her demons. It was always her inner demons that caused her grief but right now the seem to disappeared as sat down by edge of the wide stream. It's nothing new. Emberpaw often found herself coming here even one of this bad days appeared or even when her fellow Birch had given her a less than desirable headache. It was the same thing every time "Emberpaw, You need to be honest with yourself." or "Emberpaw, you need speak what on you mind." even she just wanted to be left alone. Someone had just to bother her and push her buttons! Their "help" was coming far more of hindrance she dare say so herself. The truth hurts and honesty is always the key. She would laugh at that statement. After all the white lies and on her mother caused and her "honest" she doubted unless their was proof. That traitor couldn't even stand up for her crimes and ran back to Pine like coward. She should of never left if that was the case. Emberpaw would never be a coward like her. Her green orbs would stare down at crystal water for what felt like the hundredth time. She looked at her reflection. What am I? She wasn't a birch not by blood or even mind-set. She wasn't a pine either to hell with them. What was she really? Emberpaw tried to find that answer many times but all she could think about was the day Marigold- was found out to be nothing but dirty lair and how she broken in tears and losing her way. The day her world was turned upside now in a flash and her dreams were shattered. Did Marigold- even care? I doubt! She didn't love me nor did she understand me. She loved her "Tiny fingers" more than me. Possibly due having that she-cat on her mind her reflection suddenly turn Marigold-. Emberpaw was shocked then it swiftly chanted to rage followed by a few quick slashed at the water. "Shut up! Shut up! I am not her! I am not!" Why do I have to take after her the most? That fact ate at her every or when someone mention it! I would never betray my family. Magpiepaw. Antlerpaw. I would never betray them like others did me!
After her little tantrum she sighed before sitting back again. Why did the goddess have to be so cruel!? Why did they have to be different? The tortoiseshell stiffed at taint trace of pawsteps could be and another side a new smell. "Antlerpaw." Her voice was rather raspy as tried not to show her emotions. "Dearest brother, Come and join me. Or not and just stand there. Your choice!" She could only hope he didn't her moment point of weakness. A N T L E R P A W 393 words It was another tedious day of training for Antlerpaw. The young tom usually didn't mind all the hunting, fighting, and climbing his mentor was constantly having him do but today he felt weighed down and just wanted a moments worth of peace to himself. Since becoming an apprentice his life had been a mixed bag of ups and downs. Yes he'd gotten the chance to finally train and most importantly learn the qualities of a true Birch warrior but every now and then he'd see the looks other warriors and even apprentices gave him. Him and his siblings were a puzzle piece that didn't quite fit into the big picture at times. With what seemed to be a leg in every Family it was difficult for all three of them to be placed in a box. Antlerpaw's approach to the madness that was their situation was simple; prove he belonged in the family he was born into. His sisters didn't really seem to view the situation the way he did though and for the past two moons he'd been stuck trying to convince them the Birch Family was where they belonged. River- had been the only solid parental figure for them, even now he remained in their lives to try and mold them to be what they were originally born to be; a Birch Family legacy.
His wandering thoughts had led Antlerpaw to the Wide Stream, a place his feet liked to take him when his mind was elsewhere. A familiar form took shape along the stream's bed and he wasn't surprised to find his sister Emberpaw staring down at the moving water. Out of the litter she seemed to have it the worst, her rolling emotions always caused the she-cat problems and even now, here alone she seemed to be struggling. He saw her lash out at her reflection and it made Antlerpaw pause for a moment. Faced with the dilemma of letting his sister be or trying in some way to comfort her made Antlerpaw turn his head with a mild look of confusion.
She'd already sensed his presence though so he gave a slight sigh and pushed forward to stand and eventually sit, beside her. "Emberpaw, what troubles you today?" His question was polite and subdued as he tried to judge just how angry the molly was at the moment. Seeking clarity

I'm a dying ember, Yet a blazing flame; I am my own salvation, I'm no wonted dame. Emberpaw was thankful that he did decided to join her not that would never admit it. Hehe, Typical Antlerpaw. Cold but caring in his own way. Her kin. Her dearest brother. She loved her brother but when spoke about River- like he was her father. That really put strain on things. That tom was stupid enough to have a blind side for a molly who betrayed him. He should have been smarter but you cat teach anything new. He wasn't her father not matter and that was the end to it. In her mind, she never had such relation and never would again but due the love she held for kin would respect their choices no matter how bad they get even if... goddess forbid they rekindle with their mother. The tortoiseshell took a few breaths to shakes the tension in her body. She look at the tom-cat but not in the eyes instead she saw much he has grown compared to her. Antlerpaw wasn't like their mother at all and for that she was proud of him more she would be never say but explain this. It was hard than trying to climbing trees. "I-" Her mouth moved but no words were spoken. This your brother for the goddess sake. Get a grip of yourself. Stop being a coward! Stop being weak! With a low growl she sank her claws into the earth . "I had a bad day." Everyone had them now but this one was hell on earth. Just sum it up. "A very bad one. A fail lesson, drama with smart-tongued, and Marigold-. " Emberpaw bit her lip at having to speak her name. "She trying to get to me and I wouldn't let her."tag; sloth ,

A N T L E R P A W 235 words Antlerpaw looked down at the moving water, distracted for a moment while he waited for his sister to chew on the thoughts she'd decide to share with him. He could see her visibly tense and relax before tensing once more. She'd always been like this; fighting with others and herself. Antlerpaw was always better at accepting things for what they were and trying to distance himself from emotional reactions. He tried to be patient with Emberpaw, she hadn't accepted things yet; maybe she never would but he'd still help her try. So Antlerpaw turned to look at Emberpaw as she turned to stare at him though he noticed she couldn't meet his amber eyes.
"Bad days are never easy," he supplied with a flat voice. Antlerpaw searched for some more encouraging words and stumbled out a pathetic, "I'm uh, I'm sorry you haven't had a good day. I'm sure the lessons will get better with time." The tom felt the first hint of anger when Emberpaw mentioned their mother. He was no fan of the molly either and could agree with his sisters irrational behavior when it came to Marigoldbreeze. "What did she want?" he asked his sister, though a part of him wanted to ignore Emberpaw had even mentioned her entirely. It was probably the same thing as always, begging forgiveness or for a shred of attention now that she was all alone. She'd deserved the lonely bed she'd made. Seeking clarity

I'm a dying ember, Yet a blazing flame; I am my own salvation, I'm no wonted dame. Emberpaw huffed not knowing if she be graceful for her brother;s words and creepy out by them. It had a chuckled a bit that the thought before give him a modest smile. "Antlerpaw, please. We both know not the soft or encouraging type and those words were rather weak but thanks anyway I mean it" With a nob she look back to water ahead them. There were still a few doubt lingering her head. To fail means throwing the past behind her and give up. She would rather tell her mother she loved her than ever do that. "It's I hate failureso much it really suck when you have so much too lose and so much at sake."Her Pride,Her dignity , her everything the tortoiseshell doubted her brother would understand but just to vent even a moment of it made her feel all the better. Antlerpaw didn't have agree with it since they didn't agree on a lot of things but have someone knows and love to vent made it so much bearable. "I am sick of it,brother! I am sick of her!"Everyone knew of her hatred for her mother. The witch would never be allowed to back in family she torn away being vile and manipulative she-cat. "She always trying to gain some sympathy over me with those pitiful looks again. I know that look her in eyes and can't even to begin to describe how much I despises it and she disgusts me. I know you hate hearing about Antlerpaw but Margoild- lost her chance to be my mother-our mother especially when she sent back to Pine!" Emberpaw paused to some deep breath covering her face in paws. "I am very close to taking things physical. I am not afraid to hurt her if get the message across it's over!"tag: sloth ,

A N T L E R P A W 415 words Antlerpaw gave a slight, dry humored chuckle when Emberpaw called out his weak attempt at making the molly feel better. She was right of course; he'd never been the kind to offer mental support or encouragement, it just wasn't in his nature. At least Emberpaw understood that in him and he didn't have to pretend with his sister that he was anything more than he was. He didn't really understand why she needed to be perfect all the time though and he looked at her quizzically when she expressed frustration for her short comings.
"Emberpaw; we have only been apprentices for two short moons; we are bound to fail at some point. It is expected of us. Father always says we learn more about ourselves through our failures than our triumphs." He felt the truth in those words more than anything now. When River- had first taught them this they'd been kits and the words were just that; words. But now they took on a meaning that Antlerpaw understood perhaps more than any of the lessons he'd been taught. The tom knew more about Marigoldbreeze through her failures as a mother than any kindness she had done for them in their youths. She had shown them all who she was, her true nature. He didn't need to point that out to Emberpaw, hopefully she already knew.
Again the two siblings disagreed on how to handle their mother. Antlerpaw believed the truest pain they could inflict upon the molly was giving her the cold shoulder, entirely ignoring her and the attempts she had on reaching out to them. He know how much of an emotional being their mother was and you did not fight emotion with anger or ferocity; you did it with cold, clinical apathy. "It seems to me she bothers you more than I, perhaps you could try avoiding her like I do." Antlerpaw frowned ever so slightly, "I know that isn't much help but maybe ignoring her completely will lead to her giving up.. some day." He very much doubted the last bit of his words.
"Either way Emberpaw, you have me, Magpiepaw;" he turned to face her directly, "and River-. You may have bad days now but they will pass I am sure of it." Antlerpaw gazed down at the flowing water and noticed the twice of a tail beneath the surface. "However if you are really set on sinking your claws and teeth into something might I suggest a light-hearted spar or some fishing?"
