Garnetpaw padded forward at a moderate pace, a mouse dangling from her teeth as she held onto it's tail and only it's tail. She had been going about her duties as usual since her return from that day's training, and she was in the process right now, of distributing food to the queens and kits. She had to admit, it was rather exciting to be the one doing this now. It wasn't all that long ago when she herself was just a kit at her mother's belly too, but now she was learning to hunt and was working towards being able to provide others with food. It was quite the step forward, at least in the she-cat's mind anyways. She wasn't all that knowledgeable just yet, but it was only a matter of time before she was not only bringing prey to the queens and kits, but presenting them with prey that she had personally caught. The thought lit her heart up like a gem under the light of the sun and suddenly her brisk walk was more of a trot. The tabby She-cat glanced around her briefly as she went, trying to keep track of who had prey and who didn't, when her eyes were drawn to the sight of young Violetkit, or at least she was pretty sure that was what her name was. Garnetpaw hadn't really made much of an effort prior to memorizing hername, but there was always time for that to change wasn't there? Coming to a stop a few pawsteps away from the kitten, Garnetpaw gently placed the mouse on the ground and greeted her. "Hello Violetkit! How are you doing today?" soot (Hope this is a good start)

V ioletkit was among many of her denmates, who’d been bouncing around just at the mouth of the Nursery. However, it was just reaching lunchtime and many of her denmates had been called back into their nests. The number of playmates had decreased slowly until the patchy kit was the only one left outside. Looking a bit lonesome, she batted the moss ball back and forth, feeling the negative effects of being the one of the few older kits in the Nursery. Oh well, she thought, pushing the moss to the side and settling down into a seated position, at least that means I’ll be apprenticed soon. Her thoughts did little to cheer her up, and instead she just opted to humming quietly as she admired the Grand Cavern’s impressive sights. She was pulled from her thoughts as an older apprentice approached. A brown tabby, who Violetkit had met only once or twice before. She offered a kind smile and a mouse to her, before she greeted her. Not wanting to be rude, Violetkit chirped back; “Hello Garnetpaw, I’m doing well. How are you ?” The apprentice seemed so big, but Violetkit knew she was only a few moons into her apprenticeship as a Hunter. With wide and curious eyes, the white kit tilted her head, wondering what that kind of role might entail. Making a mental note to ask Garnetpaw about it, if she stuck around to chat, Violetkit shifted into a straighter posture and made an effort to look more like an almost-apprenticed kit.

Garnetpaw watched Violetkit as she replied, stifling an amused chuckle as the kitten tilted her head to the side one moment, only to straighten out her posture shortly after. It was rather cute to observe, and the apprentice gave another smile before responding. "I'm well too, thanks for asking. I just got back from training, and I thought that I would bring some prey to the queens and kits." She stated. "Speaking of, that mouse is for you if you're hungry."
She was quiet for a moment, seeming to be in thought before finally opening her mouth once more. "It's probably not going to be all too long before you're a pupil too huh? Man that's gotta be exciting. Before long you'll have your own mentor and get to go out on the territory and see it for yourself! So, is there anything in particular that you're looking forward to about that, or are you sorta just focused on having fun right now?" She asked in an attempt to try and strike up conversation. She could easily recall when she herself was waiting in the nursery with her friends, eager for the day when she would be one step closer to a warrior.
Then again she wasn't even quite sure what Violetkit was like as a feline. She was well aware that the kitten may end up having a different experience as a pupil than she was. She could end up as a tunneler apprentice or a guard apprentice. The little kitten may not have seemed the fighting type, but who really knows? It was still a possibility, even if it was an unlikely one.

V ioletkit wasted no time turning to the mouse and beginning to eat it. The kit hadn’t been eating actual prey for very long, but she was beginning to very much enjoy the taste of meat. Mouse was actually one of her favorites. Between bites, she peered up at Garnetpaw. The pupil had begun discussing Violetkit’s own upcoming pupilship, and the kit couldn’t help but grin. “Yeah! I’m so excited to be a pupil! You guys always make it seem like so much fun!” She chirped back excitedly, her eyes growing wide once more. It wasn’t often that apprentices stopped and chatted with the kits. Usually, they offered short replies to the queens and headed back on their way, too cool for the younger cats. Violetkit promised herself she wouldn’t be like those apprentices, she’d rather be like Garnetpaw. The brown tabby was polite but still had an air of coolness to her that made Violetkit feel drawn to her. “Did you always know you were going to train to be a Hunter ? Or was it a surprise to be assigned under one ?” She asked finally. The grey and white kit knew that it was likely for her to become one too, given that both of her parents were Hunters. But she secretly liked to imagine what it might be like to be a Tunneler.

"Ah, no I didn't actually know. I mean, I was pretty sure early on that I wasn't going to end up as a guard pupil, I don't really have the build for that, but I think it was just as possible that I could have ended up on the path to becoming a tunneler too." She mewled back. "Not that I would have been upset if I had become a tunneler pupil though. The thought of training to expand our home and to retrieve gems is just as exciting to me as the thought of catching prey."
"In fact, I find all of the different roles our clan has to offer interesting. I sorta want to try to learn about all of them, but I don't really know how to go about doing that. I could bet that it would be amazing to be the first cat in Chasmclan who's skilled in all of the roles though! Being able to do all sorts of things and help out the clan in more ways than the average warrior, it all sounds like a dream." Though the she-cat knew there was probably a very good reason why that wasn't a thing. "Oh, but it must take quite a toll too. Cuz then everyone would need your hel, and I guess then it wouldn't allow for one to get much rest."

L istening with a piqued interest, Violetkit hung on every word the older cat spoke. She pictured Garnetpaw squirming under Spottedgem’s gaze as she was assigned to a mentor at her pupilship ceremony. Soon, it occurred to her, that would be her too. Violetkit bit back a smile a bit at the idea of a cat learning to do the jobs of all three roles. She couldn’t picture that kind of cat, for example, would they have the dainty build of a Hunter ? How could they protect and defend the clan with such a slight build ? But on the other paw, a cat with a stockier build would be slow and clunky in the tunnels. And a Tunneler’s poor eyesight, from the dimness they worked in, would be terrible for hunting. In the end, she couldn’t settle on the answer. Violetkit found the idea to be funny, the sheer insanity of it seemed so out of the realm of possibility. “But that would just be ridiculous! How could one cat do the job of all three ? They’d only have four paws you know!” She giggled back, appreciating Garnetpaw’s desire to learn, nonetheless. Violetkit wasn’t certain yet, but she was pretty sure that an appetite for knowledge was something she could use to describe to herself and the tabby apprentice.
