As the middle child, Dovelight never really felt much pressure. He grew up alongside his equally-rambunctious siblings and was used to being just 'one of Starwatcher's boys'. He, to his father's dismay, never joined in on teasing his sister. Instead, he opted to extend invitations to her, always making sure she hadn't been excluded.
However, Dovelight had always been a rather oblivious cat and while his siblings were quickly becoming aware of the growing distance between their parents, Dovepaw was practically in the dark about it. It was only when their mother had announced her second litter, did he come to realize the situation. And, like his brother Kookaburrasong, he was completely devastated by the fact that their father was leaving them for another family. He spent the final moons of his apprenticeship and a several moons of his new warriorhood, wondering what they'd done to drive their father away.
When the day of his warrior ceremony arrived, Dovepaw had decided he no longer wanted anything to do with his father. He, like his mother, neatly and simply cut him out of their lives and moved on. After all, Dovepaw figured somebody needed to help Starwatcher with her new litter, and he had always liked playing babysitter.
When he received his warrior name, given for his skillful agility and speed, he decided to remain in Pine, with his mother. He wanted to support her and help her any way her could. Now, as a young warrior, he's no longer in the dark about the reality of his family and he promises that he'll be involved in his youngest siblings lives, as a way of helping to fill the gaping hole his father left in their lives. So, Dovelight makes a lot of time for his mother and younger siblings as a means of trying to make up for the unfairness of things.
