Hazelkit was playing mossball with herself.
The energetic kit would bat the mossball away from her and then try to sprint over to it before it stopped moving, cutting in front of it, as if to receive it from another cat. She continued doing this. It was quite tiring, and she was soon out of breath. It was boring, too, but she nothing else to do, and no one to play with. Well, maybe she could find someone!
Determined, the brown kit bounced over to where she had hit the mossball. She swiftly scooped it up in her mouth and looked around for a cat to play with. Spotting another cat, her face lit up and she began to bounce over happily... until she tripped over a rock, landing face-first onto the ground.

Myrtleleaf surveyed the freshkill pile with hooded eyes, looking for something that might tempt a queen. The largest thing on there was a possum, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to carry it without looking ridiculous. One of the larger warriors must have stayed out at night to catch it in the trees. Well, they can't say I wouldn't do anything for my clan. She thought as she stepped forward and grasped the animal by the back of it's neck. It was surprisingly heavy, much more than the biggest kit she'd ever carried. Maybe more than one queen can share this. And their kits. Possum meat is good, I'm sure it would tempt a picky kitten. She padded forward carefully, glad that the freshkill pile was on the same side as the nursery. It made sense, so kits could fetch their mothers food without getting too close to the water. And so pregnant queens could get themselves something without risking falling in. I would know, though it was moons ago... She avoided the nursery on most days, but recently she'd been trying to push herself. She loved the queens and kits, they were the pride of the clan, but the memories that came back as she walked into the cave were overwhelming. They didn't seem to lessen as time went by, though the details became blurrier the feelings were exactly the same and raw as moons previous. She found that it was just bad the first few minutes, after she started talking with the queens or playing with the kits the feelings ebbed. The torbie made sure to hold her head up high, keeping the prey's legs from dragging on the ground. Nobody appreciated dirt in their meal. As she rounded in on the final stretch towards the nursery, she saw a little black tabby kitten playing alone with a mossball. The kit seemed to notice Myrtleleaf as soon as she noticed her. And then she came running with her ball of moss in her mouth, and the van molly almost dropped the possum when she saw the large rock in the kit's path. Her eyes widened, but she wasn't quick enough to stop the kit. She recognized the little molly now, Hazelkit. The poor kitten tripped over the rock in her rush, landing in the dirt with a thud. Who left this rock here! They should have cleared this out moons ago. She didn't hesitate to drop the prey in her mouth now, any queen would rather dirty prey over a hurt kitten. She rushed to Hazelkit's side, gently nudging the top of her head with her nose. Great ancestors, I hope that she's okay. I've known more than one cat to take a fall like that and chip a tooth. And teeth don't grow back, sadly The molly let out a worried purr. "Oh dear, that was quite the tumble! Are you okay sweetheart?"Tags: soft Notes: <3 |

"Oh dear, that was quite the tumble! Are you okay sweetheart?
Hazelkit blinked as she felt the cat she had seen nudging her. By some miracle, she hadn't chipped a tooth, or hurt anything on her face. But the paw she had hit the rock with, her front right paw hurt... perhaps it was sprained?
"Y-yeah, I'm fine!" Hazelkit squeaked, standing back up and regaining her optimism after her shock from the fall. She winced as she put weight on her right paw, and quickly lifted it to lessen the pain, struggling to balance at first. She bent down, picking the mossball up, and almost tripped again. She shot her right paw forward to catch herself. It made it hurt worse, so she pulled it back, but it had already done it's job and stopped her from falling. She shook her head, thinking to herself and then looked up at Myrtleleaf with wide eyes.
"Do you want to play mossball?" She asked brightly, her eyes shining.
