And together were facing the world, doing things nobody's done before
‘In, and out. In, and out,’ Sunspirit thought, eyes narrowed as he slowly stalked forwards, his paws passing over the sand with almost no sound. ’Focus...’ he thought as he crouched as low as he could possibly go, keeping his amber eyes locked on his target. He was on a hunt, and he would not let anything get in his way. Not the aching in his paws from an entire day of travel, not the exhaustion creeping through him as the sun dipped below the horizon, and definitely not the sounds and movement surrounding him. He would catch his prey, and he would catch it cleanly and elegantly, just like Dingotooth had taught him.
’In, and out. In, and out,’ he thought as he paused a few tail lengths from his target, who had absolutely no idea of the danger they were in. In a few minutes, they would no longer be care free. As the world moved around him, the ginger tabby tom ignored the odd looks the other cats in the clan were giving him as he bunched his muscles. ’Wait for it... wait for it... wait for it...’ he thought as he smirked. Then, he grinned. Now!’ He thought as he leapt forwards, body crashing into a black figure, the force causing the pair to tumble forwards slightly until Sunspirit had his prey pinned.
”Ha!” He exclaimed as he looked down as his prey and smirked. “Pinned ya again,” he said as he got off the figure and shook his pelt out. ”Really, Moon, aren’t you the one who’s supposed to be good with existing in the dark?” He asked with a teasing grin as he looked Moonspirit over, quickly bumping his head against his friend’s shoulder in a friendly greeting, completely ignoring the way some of the older walkers looked at him. He knew his friendship with Moonspirit was taboo, but frankly he didn’t care all that much. After all, it was a really stupid taboo.
”How are you holding up?” He asked, laying down as he did so, patting the sand with his tail as to invite his friend to lay down. Sure the two were traveling together, and Sunspirit had been talking with him just a little bit ago, but he figured he’d check in anyways. ”I know this migration has been weird with there just being Applewater,” he said before yawning. ’Even though if she’d stop worrying so much about getting a sign from these gods she would have chosen another Nightwalker Leader by this point,’ he thought to himself as he glanced up at the stars and sighed as he shook his head. He knew that Moonspirit believed in the gods, but he also knew that Moonspirit knew his own stance on the so called gods, and frankly, there wasn’t a need to bring up the fact that he didn’t believe in them.
”Honestly this whole thing reminds me of when my dad brought me here. One leader, traveling at a time I wasn’t used to...” Sunspirit trailed off as he shook his head slightly. He didn’t feel like going down that snake hole. ”How much longer do you think it’ll be ‘till we arrive? I’m betting on another moon, half a moon at the very least considering how weird this whole migration is,” he said as he looked over at his friend and smiled. There wasn’t any real reason that he was smiling. He was honestly just glad he got to spend more time with Moonspirit without getting as many weird looks.
