Sandskip used to take an active role in the Daywalker community but has since pulled back and become more reclusive after a traumatic incident in his early warriorhood. He struggles to sleep at night, plagued by nightmares and can be seen sneaking out during the night in the hopes to distract himself and to do something useful.
In a constant state of fatigue, he tends to be spacey but does his best push himself through it. To a borderline unhealthy degree. He's taken a very ignorant approach to his problems, often denying them or playing them off with a joke. Always with a smile on his - he tries and fails to ignore it.

The Past
Born an only kit to an indifferent Daywalker queen, Sandkit learned early on that it was up to him to make his own fun in the Nursery. With no siblings to play with, Sandkit quickly got acquainted with the other kittens and created quite the friend group for himself. It was during this time he met Cactuskit, his brother from another mother. They had a very special bond and were inseparable from then on.
They became apprentices together, trained together and ate together. When the time came, they became warriors together. Cactus- was always the leaderly type. Strong-willed, confident and brash, he and Sandskip balanced each other out and were a formidable pair. Being so close, it was no surprise that sexuality and the nature of their relationship came into question.
It was early in their warriorhood when disaster struck. Nature is cruel and since that day Sandskip will always heed the warnings of his Ancestors, "Never step under a bird's shadow, lest it attacks you." They were 'hunting' out by Shady Stones. Cactus- and Sandskip playfully danced around each other childishly, telling stories and inside jokes nobody but them understood. Cactus- had climbed a rock, his unofficial stage, and announced heartily his dreams and ambitions to the territory and how together he and Sandskip would bring the world to its knees. "We can do anything," he claimed, "Together, we'll run this place." Sandskip just remembers laughing and smiling fondly. Squinting up at his best friend, sunlight and love in his eyes.
Suddenly, a meagre blot in the sky grew closer and closer before Cactus- was swallowed by the shadow of a Hawk and plucked from his perch. Sandskip had screamed as Cactus- struggled and squirmed in vain, being too heavy to be gracefully whisked away. Sandskip had leapt into the air to snag onto the bird from behind, thanks to that, Cactus- was freed, but in his struggle, landed awkwardly on the rocks below. It was a quick death.
It was all so sudden, so out of nowhere and fast. He returned to camp a different cat. Shaken and anxious, he flinches when shadows appear overhead and has been plagued with nightmares of sharp talons and bloody rocks ever since. He tries to ignore it and continue, as usual, it's what Cactus- would have done, but Sandskip lost his closest friend for seemingly no reason at all that day. They were supposed to get apprentices together, fight for their clan together, grow old and retire together. Now it's just Sandskip that's left.
