Pantherfoot stretched slowly, systematically, letting her muscles unravel and relax before straightening them again. She let out a sigh as the dull ache that had been relieved for just those moments faded back in. I never get any relief, do I? She breathed in and looked about the dark den. Sand had blown in during the daytime and settled across the cats, making them look dusted with red. Suppressing a chuckle she thought about how easily one could disguise themself as a Daywalker with the flaming orange dust. Ah yes, we can all make ourselves appear lighter but never darker. Not without making things more of a trouble than they are worth. Many cats brought in leaves or whatever greenery they could find to make their nests softer. She always found that prickly and unnecessary, the sand was soft enough by itself to lie on. Emerging from the den the black cat cast her eyes towards the horizon, where the sun was falling and making way for the night. It disappeared peacefully, but the bloodstained sky made it easy to think that the sun was brutally murdered every night. Silhouetted against the dramatic scene was an equally as red cat, though her color was not due to gore. Well, one never knows. She hasn't seen me yet. She isn't looking this way. Sauntering over to join the molly, a few cats cast her looks that she pointedly ignored. Everyone wished they were as confident as she. Applewater was not as untouchable as the clan thought she was. She reached the leader's side and let silence fall over them, licking her lips before she broke the pause. "Good morning, dearest Applewater. Or should I say evening? It is getting rather late for you, isn't it?"Tags: captain Notes: please question everything she says. it all has double meanings. nothing is as it seems. |

Curves and red tabby stripes caught Applewater's attention. Her eyes swayed back and forth like the tom's tail; held to attention with slight curve. Countless moons filled with long desert treks gave him well defined muscles and a strong frame like many of the cats in the clan. Animated with chatter, the tom conversed with his friend. Occasionally, he would sway to the side and bump his friend in jest. Applewater swooned. She imagined him bumping up against her instead. She'd jokingly chat with him about how creepy Nightwalkers could be and- A black cat blotted out her sun. Applewater clenched her teeth. The dull pain from the pressure was enough to snap her mind back into focus. She watched Pantherfoot approach and assessed her stance. The Nightwalker always held herself with a confident, almost confrontation air. Applewater took a deep breath in and exhaled slowly. It had been a long day of searching for food and preparing the clan to leave on their journey to the Daylight camp. She wasn't looking forward to chatting with the Nightwalkers. Applewater wanted nothing more than to curl up with her sisters and sleep. After dipping her head in greeting, Applewater met Pantherfoot's gaze. " Good moring Pantherfoot. I hope you slept well." Applewater held a cheerful tone. " It has been a long, productive day under the sun. The Daywalkers are ahead of schedule for the journey." Catching a cream tabby pass them by, Applewater gave them a polite nod and a quick goodnight. Without missing a beat, she turned to Pantherfoot and continued. " Honestly, there isn't much left for the Nightwalkers right now. I suppose you can patrol the borders and hunt for now. The sandstorm left so many unnerved. It would do good to get back to the normal routine." Pausing for a moment, Applewater laughed gingerly. " Oh pardon me," Applewater said. " I assume you came to me for your nightly duties. I'm happy to just chat with you though. How are things going for you Pantherfoot?" Owl,

Pantherfoot quirked an eyebrow. She doesn't look all that happy to see me. That's unfortunate. It would be rather unfair if our dear Daywalker leader didn't treat all her clanmates equally, and then refused to appoint a new Nightwalker leader to give them the treatment they deserve. She moved out from in front of the leader and sat beside her. She had seen the molly gazing off into the distance at something before she came and scoured the camp for what it could be. Then she had to stifle a snort. Is our dear leader mooning after some toms? I never thought I'd see the day. Or rather, the night. "Enjoying the view?" She meowed innocently, glancing over at Applewater. A cream cat padded past and she blinked at them, inclining her head ever so slightly. She knew the nod was meant for the leader, but she didn't want her clanmates to think she didn't make an effort for cordial exchanges between herself and the Daywalkers. The black molly chuckled at Applewater's cheekiness. I can give her that. "I'm sure you want us to hunt so you Daywalkers have something left to eat for breakfast in the morn." She mewed. There's always something left for us to do. They were the flashy ones, they looked like they did all the work under the shining eye of the sun, but it was the Nightwalkers that made everything run smoothly while most of the world slept. She wasn't a fan of small talk, but she did want to talk to Applewater. There was always something to be gleaned from every interaction, and it wasn't fully dark yet. She always made sure she left the camp after the sun fell, never before. "Oh things are going swimmingly, as usual." She paused for a moment, then went in for the kill. "I am happy to see that you seem to be settling into your position as our sole leader well. It really was so unfortunate that we lost two of the most important members of our clan in one fell swoop. But I know that you'll take care of us, Applewater."Tags: captain Notes: she's asking to get told off |
