Acaciapaw lived for the short breaks the clan got in between walking for what felt like days on end. She couldn't keep track of how many cycles of dark and light had passed, but she looked forward to the times they were allowed to rest. They would be allowed to hunt, if they didn't spend the whole time sleeping. Someone had shared a mouse with her earlier, and she had fallen asleep promptly after. She was awake now, and contemplating whether to go out and waste energy on hunting. She was content just lying here awake, listening to the breathing of the still sleeping cats around her. They had managed to find an oasis that had enough trees around them to catch a spot in the shade. Even in the heat, all the resting Cursed lay cuddled together like bony puzzle pieces. The 'walkers seemed to be more sensible about not getting overheated, but they weren't used to sleeping with the comfort of another cat. It was one of the few things they got, and boy did they take advantage of it. Despite how nice it was just to lie there and breathe, her throat was dry. The oasis was only a few steps away. I'm going to have to get up sometime or another. Might as well while most of the 'walkers are sleeping too. She rose to her paws slowly, careful not to brush any of the cats around her. Most of the Cursed slept very lightly, and she didn't want to disturb them. She picked her way through the bodies, relieved at how clear her mind was despite her body aching in places she didn't even know could hurt. Soon enough she was at the edge of the water, and she plopped down to lick up her fill. She almost slipped and fell headfirst into the water, but she was lucky enough to catch herself. The clan would not be happy about a Cursed dirtying the water. Thank the gods. She was so busy drinking and making sure only her tongue and the tips of her whiskers touched the water to notice that someone else had come to take a drink too. And fortunately, they were more curious than angry. Tags: zesty Notes: time for pip to meet his sis |

Pipitpaw stifled a yawn as he sat up, blinking the sleep from his eyes. He hadn't slept for long, but his body wasn't taking well to the amount of travelling and lack of rest. Applewater seemed to be hurrying them along, and Pipitpaw felt like he hadn't properly rested in moons. He heaved himself to his paws, not paying attention to the other Daywalkers around him. They all ignored him too, anyway. The tom stretched, tail curling over his body and claws peeking out to scratch tiny dents in the sand. His mouth felt uncomfortably dry, and so he decided to go to the oasis. He walked slowly, still feeling rather drowsy. As he got closer, he noticed a cat licking up her fill of water. Pipitpaw slowed to a stop. Had it been another one of the Daywalkers, or even a Nightwalker, Pipitpaw would've turned around and returned later. But his gaze lingered on the abundance of white on the she-cat's coat. She was clearly a Cursed cat. Pipitpaw padded over even more slowly, cautious and a bit wary. He tossed a look over his shoulder, making sure none of the other Daywalkers were watching. If they caught him talking to a Cursed cat, or even near one, his mistreatment would only double. Finally, Pipitpaw reached the oasis' edge. He took a drink first, wondering if he should say something. When he felt his mouth wasn't so dry anymore, he sat up, leveling his gaze on the Cursed cat. She was tiny. "Um... hello." PIpitpaw said awkwardly, tail coming around to wrap around his paws in an almost defensive position. He fell silent, suddenly realizing he had no idea what to say next. "You're a Cursed cat, aren't you?" He blurted out. What a stupid question, Pipitpaw said to himself. Of course she's a Cursed cat, just look at all the white on her. Pipitpaw cringed, waiting for a coarse response from the small she-cat. Tags: Owl Notes: i get secondhand embarrassment from pipitpaw yikes |
